What a rush to get things done, I have had a brilliant Christmas and New Year If a slightly drunk one, I have had to come over and help Pipes with the loss of his family member, which is something really hard to get over, but he was super pleased to see me and we had a good laugh before Christmas hit us.
Work has had me in a tizzy with sorting out all the Christmas messages for different company’s to put onto their websites, but also design a Christmas e-card to send to all the clients from us.
Lets hope I get all the work in on time!

This week saw my trying to catch up on the last two weeks, with a new brief in about making a new ending to a film I have chosen the anime Ghost in the Shell, which is pretty famous in Japan and also the makers of the Matrix trilogy have said they take a lot of ideas for their films from it.
In the film a female cyborg is nearly destroyed at the end of the film and her coworker gets a new but slightly younger female body to house her in, what I want to do Is make the government she was working for, decide to make her a new body to congratulate her on her work in catching the notorious hacker she was chasing throughout the film, this will be done in a number of still images I will take from the film and rearrange them to suit my needs, then put captions under them to say what is happening.
My maya project is coming along now with the aid of Rich and his trusty knowledge of the application, hopefully I will have something to render before Christmas.

Short and Sweet these two weeks, I have and have had a really bad cold which then led to a throat infection which in turn led to a chest infection and due to me having asthma that pretty much knocked my back really badly.
My bed was my friend for two weeks and I rarely left my house, I have managed to get this journal done and also tell my contacts that I am pretty contagious so its not a good idea to see me at the moment.
I have also had to take time off work, never a good thing when Christmas is fast approaching.

Ha ha last post had the word count of 220! I’m over the 200 mark which is good, esp on the web blog, it fills a page really quickly and also looks like I have typed out loads.
Funny how you can type out a journal/blog in word for example and it not look like much but as soon as you put that content online it looks like you’ve produced loads!
This week we presented out Still Life models and gave a quick speech to the class about our chosen artist and how we went about doing the 3d model.
I have done my Conceptualisation work and put it online, I have had to make a subdomain for this work titled “tricks” always playing around I am.

You will notice a large image of my desk at home, the idea is you have to find the hidden links within the image to get onto my portfolio, this really isn’t a challenge to anyone but more a quirky way of accessing my online portfolio, you will find that I have tried to pick certain objects that correspond with the page it links to, this makes it a little more helpful.

I have found a really handy feature on my online blog software, which shows my word count for each post, which trying to find in word is pretty hard.
Usually I am noticing I am doing over 150 words per post which I feel is acceptable, in this day and age who gets to say how long a journal/diary/blog should be? As long as the information however brief it is, is there then it should be fine.
This week Rich asked to take our photos for his Conceptualisation project which was a lot of fun, making silly faces for him, we also found out that he’ll be adding these to his Maya Project which I’m jealous about, tho he has done a night class in maya before so knows what he’s doing.
Working on my Still Life piece now in Maya, I have chosen an artist that has made a lot of paintings with eggs in, fetish maybe?
I worked on the texture myself for the background wall in the piece, it was far too light for what was in the original painting, so I popped the image into photoshop and worked my digital magic on it to make it look a lot more like the original, I think it’s turned out really well so I’m really pleased with the result.

So this week we have been working on starting our Maya project which I have chosen a fall out shelter for and also I am rethinking my Conceptualisation idea due to what I have just done at work recently.
Image Maps! Usually used for…. Maps (wouldn’t you know!) basically these are used on web pages for interactive maps, you see a map on a page and click on certain parts of the map to get linked to that corresponding page.
As I have recently stated I had worked on a big map of Europe for work, the client was DSSmith, which is a huge multi-billion pound plastics expert company, they have a contact page which has a map of all the locations of its different branches around Europe, they also have places around the world and I did have to work on another map for that.
But the idea of using an Image Map for my project was a nice simple one, and would work very well with linking to different parts of my website, more will be explained in later diary entrys.

Maya week this week and what a week! Starting out easy with making Building’s using simple polygon boxes, then moving onto complex models, for us this was making a car.

Also this week was Conceptualisation (what a word!) I have hundreds of ideas running through my head, but picking the right one will be a challenge for sure.
With real life work, we are in the busy month trying to get all the websites ready for Christmas and the stress levels within the office are running a little high, I try to keep myself to myself and only interact with my main boss Lucy only when I have to and show her work I have finished on time and on schedule which she loves! (Basically I get a small bonus for things that are on time)
This seems like a small diary, but when you view these online they seem really huge :S (this is a smiley or emotion just so you know)

This week saw us presenting our La Rochelle ideas to both Simon and Jeremy, one by one we all went in and were all asked something in French which, really nobody could answer very well, considering I hadn’t done any French in over 5 years was possibly a reason why I couldn’t answer Simons question lol.
My online portfolio is also coming along, with the aid of my brother who has got a Degree in Business IT Management (which basically means he looks after the backend coding of sites and runs the server)

She’s asked for a pinkish flowery site, so that’s what she’s gonna get lol, I don’t mind working in any colour as long as the outcome works out and the client likes it.
As I have previously stated please view the online Blog found – http://www.7spire.com/blog for the latest ramblings from me but also my college diary’s, I feel they work better on there and if I can keep myself going and keep the blog updated every week or so it could work out really well for myself.
Also on the freelance side of things I might have another job in line after the German Photographer which has actually come through her, she has recently done a photo shoot with a German rock band, and they are after a website to promote themselves, so we have agreed to work together and split the earnings between us, I think this could be a good partnership, with my building the sites and being able to host them and have a very good German translator for the sites content.

Week 2 and I have started Maya, oh my this is a powerful and very intensive program but with the aid of saul I think most of us have got the basic hang of things.
In terms of La Rochelle, research into the area and what the main port and fort were used for is going slowly, but some interesting facts of the area have come to light, like the fact the Indiana Jones films have been filmed there.
To keep my journal updated and also keep my online portfolio in shape I have now installed WordPress which is a blogging script I can use free of charge on my website to post my thoughts but also my college life in, I am busy putting a new theme on it and also installing some clever features both on the frontend but also backend of the blog.
